Artist's Comments

This is painted traditionally in acrylic on 20'x 30' illustration board, it took about 2 weeks to finish.

I did the painting to serve as pre-production art for a sculpture which we made later on, while I was working with Hall Train studios (1995-96). The finished sculpture eventually became an animatronic exhibit at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure.

Daily Deviation

Given 2007-09-10

Acrylics are an amazing medium, requiring much skill to master. Its made more impressive by painting an animal you cant even get a visual reference of (skin on) Triceratops by ~adventurevisual is a great piece that uses the medium and the imagination so well. (Suggested by `WineWriter and Featured by `guruubii)

Wow, the detail work you did on this is fantastic! When I first saw the thumbnail I just assumed it was a photo of one of your sculptures. Great work!

Just gorgeous! The detailing makes my eyes water--that hide looks real enough to touch! :clap::clap: You have to be doing this type of work for textbooks or picture books on dinosaurs--they're too beautiful not to be used for such! :nod:
